Yannis Kolesidis was born in Athens in 1973.
He graduated from the School of Study and Practice of Photography (EMEF) in Athens.
He has been working as a photojournalist since 1994. Until 1997,
he worked for a photo agency in Athens, covering domestic and international news and feature stories,
and traveling as a correspondent throughout Greece and abroad.
He worked for the Greek daily newspaper ETHNOS from 1997 to 1999 covering major news stories in Greece and abroad.
He also freelanced for the Greek weekly magazine EIKONES of ETHNOS from 2001 until 2003.
During 2004 he has exclusive cooperation with REUTERS.
He covered the Athens Olympics and Paralympic Games.
His photographs have been published at international and
Greek daily newspapers, monthly lifestyle magazines.
At the time being he is still in cooperation with REUTERS,
a local sports agency and weekly magazines as well.
In FUJI Film Euro Press Photo Awards 1999 competition he received the top national prize
in the feature category for his project “Beggars in Athens“.
His photo “A worker in a shipyard” took the Award of Excellence in Newspaper Division Portrait
at the Picture of the Year International (POY) 2004 contest.
He also took part in several group photo exhibitions,
including “Fotoreportazin” along with four other Greek photojournalists in 1998.
He is a member of Hellenic Photojournalists Union (EFE) and Foreign Press Association.
